Black Tea
Fully oxidized teas known for their rich, bold flavors.
What Is Black Tea?
Black tea is the most oxidized style of true tea, giving it its characteristic dark color, full body, and robust flavor. Depending on where it is grown and how it is processed, black tea can express notes ranging from malt and cocoa to dried fruit, honey, florals, smoke, or spice.
Unlike green tea, which is heated shortly after harvesting to prevent oxidation, black tea is intentionally allowed to oxidize almost completely. During this process, enzymes react with oxygen, transforming the tea's flavor, aroma, and color.
Today, black tea is produced throughout the world, including India, China, Sri Lanka, Kenya, Nepal, and many other countries. It is the most widely consumed tea in the world and serves as the foundation for drinks such as English Breakfast, Earl Grey, and Masala Chai.
